New policy brief explores the impact of AI on the semiconductor supply chain
ALLPROS.eu has published a new policy brief examining the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the semiconductor supply chain and its implications for Europe’s technological competitiveness.
The brief highlights how AI can improve efficiency across the chip value chain, including supply chain management, chip design optimisation, predictive maintenance, and quality control. AI also offers opportunities to support environmental sustainability by optimising energy use, materials, and production processes.
At the same time, the analysis identifies key challenges that could slow adoption, particularly the shortage of AI talent, data-related issues, and the barriers faced by SMEs in accessing AI technologies. The report stresses the importance of open innovation and open-source ecosystems to help smaller companies remain competitive.
To address these issues, the policy brief presents recommendations focused on strengthening STEM education and AI skills, supporting trustworthy and transparent AI systems, and improving support mechanisms for SMEs adopting AI solutions.
