This post-event report sums up the ALLPROS.eu webinar: "The edge computing landscape in the semiconductor industry in Europe", held on 17 December 2025.
Led by Luis Fernandes, the webinar brought to light key insights from both Luis Fernandes and Alexandra Rotaru (IDC), showing that edge computing and Generative AI are becoming strategic for Europe’s semiconductor industry, but adoption in the EU remains slow due to regulatory focus, limited investment, and skill shortages.
While GenAI is boosting productivity, budget reallocation and security concerns persist. Europe accounts for about 20% of global edge spending, growing steadily but lagging behind other regions and lacking semiconductor autonomy. Strengthening competitiveness will require coordinated action on semiconductor independence, harmonized standards, and workforce development.
