The Industrial Alliance on Processors and Semiconductor Technologies at EFECS 2024 - EFECS 2024 - Strengthening EU competitiveness

The European Forum for Electronic Components and Systems (EFECS 2024) is set to take place at the ICC Ghent Convention Centre in Belgium on December 5-6, 2024. This flagship event, organised by the Chips Joint Undertaking Office and supported by AENEAS, EPoSS, and INSIDE Industry Associations, brings together the key stakeholders driving Europe’s leadership in semiconductors and electronic components.

Highlights from the Industrial Alliance on Processors and Semiconductor Technologies

On December 6, 2024, Silvana Muscella, ALLPROS.eu Project Coordinator and CEO of Trust-IT Services, will represent the Alliance during the plenary session.
Her presentation, "Status of the Industrial Alliance & Early Findings," will focus on the progress and objectives of the Industrial Alliance on Processors and Semiconductor Technologies, officially launched on July 2024, and its three Working Groups:

  • Working Group on Skills - The skills shortage is one of the most significant barriers to growth in the semiconductor sector. This WG has already delivered a major milestone: the Blueprint Report - Bridging the Skills Gap in the Semiconductor Sector, which outlines 7 actionable recommendations and best practices. The group continues to bring together industry, academia, and policymakers to build a sustainable and diverse talent pipeline to support Europe’s semiconductor ambitions.
  • Working Group on Supply Chains - This WG tackles one of the most pressing challenges in the semiconductor industry: supply chain resilience. By bringing together suppliers, end-users, and industry stakeholders, the group identifies risks, dependencies, and chokepoints in the supply chain. Its aim is to develop actionable insights and strategies to strengthen Europe's capacity to mitigate disruptions and enhance autonomy in this critical domain.
  • Working Group on PFAS - As Europe prepares for regulations and restrictions on PFAS, this WG provides a collaborative space for addressing the environmental and societal challenges posed by these substances. The group focuses on identifying sustainable alternatives and developing risk mitigation strategies to ensure the semiconductor industry can transition smoothly while maintaining its competitiveness.

Join the mission to shape Europe’s semiconductor future

As a stakeholder-driven initiative, the Alliance thrives on collaboration and collective expertise. By joining, you’ll have the opportunity to actively shape the future of Europe’s semiconductor ecosystem, contribute to strategic Working Group discussions, and help position Europe as a global leader in this pivotal sector.

Any organisation with relevant existing or planned activities in the area of processor and semiconductor technologies, including end-user companies, associations, and research and technology organisations, can join the Alliance. They can do so by signing the Declaration and filling in the application form provided they meet the eligibility criteria set out in the Terms of Reference. Application for the Alliance remains open indefinitely and organisations may apply and join at any time.
